The Gimhae National Museum is co-hosting the special exhibition Metallurgy (冶金): Great Wisdom with the Cheongju National Museum and Leeum Samsung Museum of Art. Metallurgy (冶金, yageum in Korean) refers to the overall process of manipulating metals with heat, and in Korean it also indicates the products created through this process. Human life changed greatly with the advent of this technology. Through the use of metals, people have induced considerable social evolution. Moreover, with the addition of wisdom and sensitivity, they have created artworks that last in perpetuity.

This exhibition highlights the great human wisdom and artistry to be found in gold, silver, bronze, and iron. It is hoped that it will offer an opportunity to rediscover the aspects of metallurgy to be found embedded in our all our lives, from prehistoric times to the present and from daily life to art.
